Big Brother goes boom: The Amiable Skeptics featuring Adam Baldwin! (Updated!)

Did Terry Doughty give America its best birthday present in decades by shutting down the “Orwellian Ministry of Truth,” as the judge put it in his order? “It’s a great thing that he’s slowed down the Biden administration,” Adam Baldwin says, but adds a skeptical note: “Who’s going to enforce any penalties on them? Who’s going to make sure that they don’t do it behind the scenes?” Even if the injunction proves difficult to enforce, however, I argue that its value goes well beyond that.

Welcome back to our VIP video series “The Amiable Skeptics,” featuring my friend Adam Baldwin! Adam is well-known for his long and storied Hollywood career, starting with My Bodyguard, and especially for his roles in Full Metal Jacket, Firefly, its film sequel SerenityChuck, and The Last Ship.

This case opens up a lot of different threads in our discussion, including Threads, the new Facebook/Instagram competitor to Twitter. “I’m not going on Threads, I’ll tell you that right now,” I say. “Zuckerberg and that whole regime cooperated with this censorship-Big Brother crap. Elon Musk bought Twitter and exposed it.”

“Hold on, hold up,” Adam replies. Zuckerberg “falls definitely on the Left,” but he may not have seen much choice but to collaborate either. “I also believe that he was worried about the threats emanating” from the regime and activist shareholders. “Outfits like BlackRock and State Street and Vanguard that [enforce a} corporate equity index, you know. It’s a nice line of credit you have there —  would be a shame if something happened to it, Mark.”

We also discuss the strange new cheerleading for censorship from American media outlets. All we really know about the US government’s censorship program is about social media platforms, thanks to the Twitter files and the discovery process in the lawsuit in Doughty’s court initiated by state Attorneys General. “Nobody’s exposed to CNN files or the Washington Post files or the New York Times files,” I say, “and I would bet that there’s more going on than we In terms that intervention, in terms of that censorship.”

“Oh sure,” Adam replies, “because they’re party faithful, they’re all about the project, the revolution continuing their power-mad struggle. They don’t care about hypocrisy, they care about hierarchy. Where do they stand in the party structure?”

We have plenty more to discuss in this week’s episode. On Monday we tackle the suppression of COVID vaccine data and the Gal Luft statement on Biden corruption. Be sure to watch it all and join us in the comments!
