CNN legal analyst: There is a 'realistic chance' that Hunter Biden could be indicted

When CNN isn’t covering for Hunter Biden as aggressively as the cable news network has in the past, you know there may be a change coming. It turns out that a DOJ investigation into the president’s son is more extensive than originally thought to be.

Elie Honig, a legal analyst for CNN, said Wednesday that it appears that the federal investigation into Hunter’s overseas business dealings is “gaining steam.”

A top legal analyst at CNN said it is possible President Biden’s son Hunter Biden could be indicted by the U.S. government following an investigation into his foreign business dealings.

“This is a very real, very substantial investigation of potentially serious federal crimes,” Elie Honig said Wednesday morning on the network. “We are seeing federal prosecutors in Delaware do exactly what you would expect to see federal prosecutors do in this situation.”

The Washington Post joined the New York Times in confirming that thousands of emails on Hunter’s laptop computer are legit. The very material that was first reported in October 2020 by the New York Post, and immediately dismissed as Russian disinformation by Democrats and their friends in the media is now being confirmed a year and a half later, long after the November 2020 presidential election.

Senator Charles Grassley began an investigation into Hunter’s slimy business dealings overseas in 2019. In September 2020, Senator Grassley and Senator Ron Johnson released tentative findings in a report on what the investigation uncovered. This week the two senators went to the Senate floor and delivered speeches on the long-ignored report. They brought receipts, too. Their initial speeches this week mostly dealt with “troubling financial entanglements” between Hunter Biden and the Chinese government. Johnson called the media black-out on the report a classic media cover-up. The two senators concentrated mostly on Hunter’s ties to CEFC, a state-controlled Chinese energy company. They found deals and contracts worth millions of dollars intertwined since 2017 when Joe Biden left office.

Other emails concerning the Ukrainian energy company, Burisma Holdings, have been verified, too. Hunter was paid up to $83,333 a month, or $1M a year for a seat on its board, though Hunter has no experience in the energy industry and no known expertise in the country of Ukraine.

Grassley and Johnson are on a mission to expose their findings and offer up proof of their claims, too. Suddenly the Washington Post is ‘fessing up.

On Wednesday, the Washington Post said it was given a copy of the hard drive in June by Republican activist Jack Maxey, who previously worked as a researcher for the “War Room” podcast run by Steve Bannon, a former adviser to ex-President Donald Trump.

The paper said it spent months reviewing the data and making two copies of the hard drive so they could be analyzed by Matt Green, a Johns Hopkins University security researcher, and Jake Williams, a forensics expert and former National Security Agency operative.

Both experts concluded that the verified emails carried cryptographic signatures that would be hard to fake, even for the best computer hackers.

Oh. The New York Post story was correct all along. Imagine that.

Honig referenced Burisma when she said there very well could be federal charges against Hunter coming down the pike.

The Justice Department is reportedly continuing to look into potential illegal lobbying allegations against a consulting firm tied to Ukrainian energy company Burisma, on whose board Hunter Biden once sat.

“There is a realistic chance this could result in federal charges,” Honig said. “Of course, then we’d be in unprecedented political territory — not legal territory but a situation of having potentially the Department of Justice prosecuting and trying to imprison the son of the president.”

Veteran investigative reporter Catherine Herridge tweeted that a federal probe much broader than previously suspected is underway.

A federal probe into Pres. Biden’s son Hunter is underway. Sources tell @CBSNews it is broader than previously known. White House declined to comment + referred reporters to earlier statement POTUS never “considered being involved in business w/his family.”

Perhaps Joe Biden thinks he is untouchable and won’t be held accountable for his part in the corruption within Biden, Inc. It is his name and political position that is being traded for cash and prestige by his son and brother, James. The stories have been out there for years and yet only now is anyone bothering to do a serious investigation. Maybe Joe’s assumption of being untouchable will prove true. There is at least one email that references The Big Guy and his demand for 10%. Clearly, Joe Biden is that guy. His son, however, may be a different matter. Stay tuned. Let’s see what Grassley and Johnson deliver in their next speeches. They’ve promised there will be more to come.
