Trump, Biden Head for the Border on the Same Day

You know there is a presidential election on the horizon when the leading candidates of both parties show up in the same place on the same day. In this case, it is Texas.

Former President Trump's trip to Eagle Pass has been previously confirmed. Today the White House announced that President Biden will travel to Brownsville to meet with Border Patrol agents and other law enforcement in the area. To be a fly on that wall...

Trump is expected to address the open southern border and the crime it invites. This trip comes as the nation is shocked by the horrendous death of a college coed at the hands of an illegal alien in Georgia. Joe Biden has blood on his hands over the murder of 22-year-old Laken Riley, a nursing student out for a jog in broad daylight on a popular campus trail at UGA.

Mr. Trump will visit Eagle Pass in Texas on Thursday. CNN reported the planned trip last week. Mr. Trump plans to deliver remarks from the border to highlight the immigration crisis and lay blame at the feet of Mr. Biden, according to a person close to Mr. Trump who was not authorized to discuss the plans publicly.

Mr. Trump is expected to highlight crimes committed by migrants in New York and in other cities, as well as the arrest of a Venezuelan undocumented immigrant in the recent high-profile killing of a 22-year-old nursing student in Georgia, the person added.

President Biden is going to Brownsville to push for the passage of a garbage bill passed by the Senate on border security. Republicans refuse to take up the bill in the House because it will not pass. It includes a 5,000 per day limit on illegal alien apprehensions before the border is shut down. That is unacceptable. That is the main sticking point. The truth is that the House passed a bill seven months ago that the Senate refuses to bring up for a vote. The Republican-controlled House is not on the same page as the Democrat-controlled Senate. Shocker, I know.

On his Thursday trip to Brownsville, Mr. Biden plans to meet with Border Patrol, law enforcement and local officials, according to a White House official. The president is expected to put the blame for the migration crisis on House Republicans, who blocked a bipartisan package that would have enacted severe restrictions at the border, and to call on Congress to come together and address the challenge.

Mr. Biden has been considering executive actions that would essentially prevent those who cross the border from claiming asylum, but he is not expected to announce any new executive action on his Thursday visit, the person said. It remains unclear what time of day he will travel, or whether he will make public remarks.

The truth is that the Biden border crisis is deliberate. Biden is solely responsible for the consequences of the open southern border. People from around the world are illegally entering the United States and Joe Biden welcomes them all.

Biden could shut down the border right now if he wanted to do that. He does not. His administration does not enforce the current immigration laws on the books. There is no need for him to wait for Congress to act, no matter how many times he says he does. He thinks voters are stupid. The same executive orders that opened the border on his first day in the White House can also be reversed to close the border. Biden didn't hesitate to go it alone then and he shouldn't now.

Instead, Biden wants to slam Republicans for not voting on the Senate bill in the House. He accuses Republicans of playing politics with border security. Joe Biden has no sense of irony or self-awareness. The number of illegal aliens allowed in the United States is at historic highs. Records are broken monthly. Yet, Biden persists. He turns a blind eye and ignores reality.

Now that the general election is coming up in November, Biden is being mugged by reality. He can no longer ignore the topic because border security and illegal immigration are the top issues for voters in all states. Every state that has voted already in the primary races says that is their priority. The border and the economy are the top two issues. Biden has failed miserably with both issues. Americans do not feel safe in their communities and families struggle to keep up with monthly bills thanks to Bidenomics. Sixty percent of Americans say they are living paycheck to paycheck.

Brownsville and Eagle Pass are several hundred miles apart. The two men won't happen to cross paths on Thursday. I wonder if Brownsville is busy sanitizing its city like El Paso did a year ago when Biden visited the border for the first time in his life.

FNC reporter Bill Melugin makes a good point.

The Border Patrol union calls it like it sees it about Biden's visit.
